Destination As the largest island in the Canaries, a holiday in Tenerife has something for every type of holidaymaker. The island is known to be drenched in warming sun year round ... and let’s face it, that’s one of the main reasons why we British holidaymakers flock here year after year. Let the children run off steam in Siam Park, a Thai-themed theme park with waterslides and thrill-seeking rides whilst the grandparents explore the Thai market ... unless they’re ones for the rides, too!

A short four hour flight from the UK will find tourists exploring the theme parks, water parks and national parks, along with enjoying the excellent weather and stunning beaches. Relax on the soft sands; some even have sand imported from the Sahara Desert, whilst others have Tenerife’s natural black sand created by the volcano eruptions. If there any golfers amongst us, then let yourself go on one of Tenerife’s nine fabulous golf courses, allowing you to enjoy some light competition to see if you can beat your fellow golfing buddies. Our bets are on you!

For Singles

When: Personally, we would travel during the summer months of June through to August where you can really appreciate the sun, allowing you to get a great sun tan to make all your friends jealous. If you want to avoid the crush of the crowds, travel in the months of May and September when it’s much quieter.

Where: Well, that depends on what you look for in a holiday. For excellent nightlife, head towards Playa de las Americas where you will find Veronicas or towards the lively resort of Los Cristianos. For a more subdued holiday, head north towards Puerto de la Cruz for the cultural side of the island.

Why: Explore the island at your own pace, relax on the beaches, enjoy the amazing nightlife or take a trip around the island discovering what Tenerife really does offer the single traveller.

For Groups

When: From May to September, Tenerife is at its busiest with tourists from all over flocking to get a good tan, enjoy the atmosphere and soak up the hot sun. Who wouldn’t want to? We certainly would!

Where: No contest, Costa Adeje, or Playa de las Americas are both a must visit for the partygoers amongst your group. Would you rather discover more about Tenerife’s cultural heart? Then visit Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the capital of the island and let that culture vulture in you have its say.

Why: Because there is something for everyone, whether you are travelling as a group of girls, boys or as a family. Relive memories of days out at theme parks in the UK by going to some of Tenerife’s fun-filled parks, made even better by the sublime sunshine.

For Couples

When: There’s no need to worry about when is the best time to go, the sun has got his hat on all year! Sport a winter tan or head out in summer and experience the best of the Tenerife heat.

Where: Put the sparkle back in your life and head to Costa Adeje, Callao Salvaje or Playa de la Arena, with luxury hotels and bars to bring out the romance in any couple.

Why: Because of the secluded hideaways and the lively nightspots, Tenerife has everything couples are looking for. Reveal the romance in you in an intimate restaurant or go wild and party in one of the nightclubs.

For Families

When: Nobody appreciates children who moan about being too hot! Travel in May and September to avoid having whiney children. You can always travel in the school holidays where the sun is warm and kids will make friends easily.

Where: Many of the resorts are geared towards families, meaning endless fun can be had. Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos are where most of the family friendly hotels are, along with excellent restaurants and a short transfer time from the airport. Bonus!

Why: Tenerife has so much to offer families, from sandy beaches to the beautiful Teide National Park. Do the kids love water parks? Well, lucky for them Tenerife is home to Siam Park, the largest water park in Europe. Treat them to a visit and let them be the envy of all their friends.

Weather Tenerife is known as the ‘island of eternal spring’ thanks to its spring-like temperatures throughout the year. Get away from the dreary UK winters and head to the warmer climates in the south of the island where temperatures rarely drop below 20C. Not bad for a bit of winter sun, eh? The north of the island has a more varied climate due to the mountainous landscapes, meaning it is slightly cooler and has more rain.

What to expectGet geared up for everything, from a relaxing holiday to a jam packed fun-filled break. Whether you are with family, a group of friends, on your own or with a loved one, Tenerife has something for you. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and nightclubs to keep you out of trouble in those warm evenings, whilst the sandy beaches will have you so relaxed in the day time, we doubt you’ll ever want to leave! If you’d rather stay active on your Tenerife holiday, unearth the many hidden gems Tenerife has to offer (there are plenty to discover!) or take a trip on a cable car over Mount Teide.
