Destination If you want to be where the action is in Fuerteventura, then Corralejo is the place to head. The largest resort on the island, a holiday in Corralejo is fabulous for everyone who wants to have a good time. There are great beaches close to the resort, depending on what you are looking for. There is nothing worse than a crowded beach, right? The town beach is great for those that just want to tan and show off their beach bodies, whereas the Flag Beach is where you need to go for wind and kite surfing. Whichever beach tickles your pickles, the sand dunes in this area are pretty awesome, so much so they are actually a protected nature reserve. Okay, natural history lesson over.

After a few days on the beach, not doing a lot, your inner explorer may fancy going a little further afield. Head out on a short boat ride and see if you can catch a glimpse of a few dolphins and whales swimming in the sea; you won’t get that at SeaWorld. Or, why not head to the Baku Water Park and throw yourself down a few waterslides? These flumes are not for the faint hearted... you may need to pack another pair of swim shorts. In the evening there are plenty of bars and restaurants along the main Centro Comercial Atlantico strip.
For Singles

When: If you want to watch the surfing championships then visit in July. But, if you want to avoid the kids and crowded beaches then go during term time. The weather will still be great.

Where: Head to the old town port within Corralejo which isn’t as busy as the main parts of the town. This way you will be able to enjoy some relaxation, but aren’t a million miles away if you’re craving some action...of any variety.

Why: You will be able to spend the day exploring the volcanic island before heading down the main strip to make a few friends over a couple drinks. However, if you’re on the pull, then go to Playa De Las Americas in Tenerife.

For Groups

When: Get that tan looking awesome to show off to your mates back home by heading in peak season when the sun is scorching. You will notice your tan in just a few hours; just remember the sun cream – burnt skin is not attractive.

Where: Stay as close to the main Centro Comercial Atlantico strip as possible. You want to be close to the main nightlife so you don’t have to spend a fortune on a taxi fare before your night out has even started.

Why: If you love your water sports and want to enjoy plenty of great Spanish bars in the evening, then this resort will be great. The active groups will love this town, but the party animals who don’t really want to do anything else should probably head to Ibiza or Magaluf.

For Couples

When: Make the most of your couples holiday together, not with thousands of families. So, go in May or September.

Where: If you’re a couple that likes your cocktails then feel free to stay close to the main centre. However, for a bit of romance, the Corralejo harbour is the ideal setting.

Why: Enjoy a hike together around the volcanic terrain and admire the spectacular views together. Or, just kiss on the beach all day if you guys fancy a lazy couple’s getaway.

For Families

When: Make the most of the best weather and go in July or August. That way the kids won’t fall behind at school either. Can you imagine if you had to take their homework with you?

Where: Stay close to the central strip. This is where most of the amusement arcades are which the kids will love. If you’re looking for a more relaxed break then the original fishing port is for you.

Why: The kids will love splashing around on the main Town Beach before heading to the Oasis Park Zoo. In the evening, why not book the youngsters in for a round of ten pin bowling, while you watch from the bar with a jug of sangria?

Weather In July the temperature can get as high as 28C which is ideal for all those sun lovers out there. If you can only get away in the autumn or spring months, you are still pretty much guaranteed a great temperature. Don’t be fooled by the somewhat depressing seasons we have here in the UK. Make the most of being able to visit this resort all year round. However, if you hate the wind, then keep away; this island takes the idea of a sea breeze to whole other level.

What to expectAlthough there is plenty to do in Corralejo, you will not see crowds of rowdy youths on their hen and stag dos. So, if that is what you’re looking for then maybe Benidorm in the Costa Blanca is your best bet. During the summer months expect plenty of families out in their numbers to enjoy their well earned getaway. There are some excellent Spanish restaurants, particularly in the harbour and in the old town, as well as those serving English grub too. Don’t worry, this is not ‘doner kebab central’!
