Destination Find yourself on one of the hottest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, south of Turkey and book a holiday to Cyprus. Who doesn’t look forward to a holiday relaxing on golden sandy beaches, exploring the historical side or dancing the night away? We definitely do! Us British holidaymakers look forward to having a bit of sunshine in our lives ... we need it to make up for the lack of it at home.

If relaxing on golden beaches or strolling through shops doesn’t tickle your fancy, how about you head to Paphos – a UNESCO World Heritage Site? Not only will you discover the Archaeological Park, there is also the Tomb of the Kings that we know you’ll love. If you’re a culture vulture, then this is the resort for you. Likewise, those looking to feel that typical Cypriot way of life will love exploring Cyprus’ range of quaint fishing villages and small towns. Not only that, but Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, was said to be born in the waves of the Cyprus beaches, ensuring that romance can be found on every corner of the island. You lucky couples!

For Singles

When: The best time to travel is July and August when the sun is at its hottest and the clubs are at their busiest. May and September are the quieter months to travel in to avoid being trampled on, and you know you’ll be able to secure a sunbed at the beach for that all important tanning.

Where: For exciting nights out and the opportunity to dance your socks off, head to Ayia Napa, the party resort of the island. If you’re looking for a low key holiday, stay in Limassol for the Cypriot culture and Nissi Beach for relaxation.

Why: Wanting to feel like you’re a million miles away from home? Escape to Cyprus where you can feel the heat on your skin, the sand in your toes and the music in your ears.

For Groups

When: Anytime between May and September is the best time to travel. Drench yourself in the hot sun or party the night away in the superb nightclubs.

Where: Do you really need to ask? If you’re looking for nightclubs and entertainment, stay in Ayia Napa, or for relaxation and beaches, head to Nissi Beach.

Why: Relaxed days on the beach and wild nights partying in the nightclubs, Cyprus has it all for both large and small groups of friends. Reminisce nights out at home by partying bigger and better in Cyprus.

For Couples

When: Get that all over tan in the height of the summer months, but be aware of the crowds of tourists that may get in your way. Alternatively, simply enjoy a romantic break in May or September when the crowds are quieter and the romance is hotter.

Where: Holiday in style with no expense spared – you deserve it right? Stay in the luxury Hotel Le Meridien Limassol Spa offering heaven at your fingertips – we’ll bet you won’t want to leave!

Why: Because Cyprus is the home of love! Legend has it that the Greek goddess of love Aphrodite was born from the waves on the beach ... so you can be sure that romance is in the air. N’awww.

For Families

When: With eight months of warm sun every year, you can holiday when you see fit! July and August are the hottest months, but find the beaches crammed, whereas May, June and September are slightly cooler, and allows that little extra room for the little ones to build sandcastles.

Where: Paphos Bird Park, Nicosa’s Motorcycle Museum and Aphrodite Water Park are to name a few places that you must visit; they’ll bring out the youth in everyone ... and you can’t say no to that!

Why: With so much to offer families, the kids won’t know where to start. Water parks, beaches and fun-filled activities will leave the children feeling like Cyprus was made to be their very own playground.

Weather The weather in Cyprus is so much better than what we have back in the UK - long, hot summers and short, mild winters. Sounds good, right? June to October provides the hottest months in Cyprus, so bring the sun cream war-paint to ensure you don't burn. The rest of the year is slightly cooler, but still warm enough to relax in your swimwear.

What to expectBring your sun-cream, sunglasses and swimwear – you’ll probably find you’ll never wear anything else! The beaches are busy with plenty of tourists and locals flocking to its sands and, as the nightlife is buzzing, you can rest assured that you’ll be kept busy from dawn until dusk. If it’s not the beaches or nightlife you’re jetting off to Cyprus for, then make your first port of call Paphos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that’ll let you discover the traditional culture of Cyprus.
